The main link opens Flat's viewer for a single document or media file. Readers can preview supported files and download the original.

DIRECT FILE LINK

Open the file itself

Add the uploaded file's path to its published address. The URL serves the original file without Flat's viewer. A DOCX stays a DOCX, even when its preview uses PDF pages.

How to get a direct link to a file

Copy the original file link

Upload your file above, then open the published link. Copy the link address from the viewer's "Open original" action.

Use the full file URL

https://YOUR_UPLOAD.onflat.page/proposal.docx

Replace the example domain with your published address and use the exact filename, including its extension. Folder uploads also need the folder path.

Share files at their original quality

A client can download your full-resolution image or editable workbook. You can also link directly to a ZIP of project files. Previews do not replace or compress the uploaded originals.

Open the original at the main address

For a one-file upload, turn off Flat's viewer through the CLI to serve the file at the main address.

Publish without the viewer
For an existing upload, use deployment update DEPLOYMENT_ID --no-viewer.

Direct link questions

Can I update a file without changing its direct link?

Use a named address or custom domain. Publish the replacement with the same file path and point that address to the new upload. An upload's version link always keeps its original file.
