How it works
- 01
Select your files.
Choose the document or finished page you want to share.
- 02
Publish.
Flat uploads your files and gives you a public URL.
- 03
Share the link.
Open it, check the result, and send it.
Publish a folder from your terminal.
Have a static site with CSS, images, and JavaScript? Publish the finished folder with its file paths intact. No Git repository or Flat project config required.
npx -y @getflat/cli deploy ./distFrom the field.
The site was finished. I just needed it online. Dropped in the files and sent the client a link.
Alex MercerFreelance web designer For a quick static demo, this is much less setup than my usual deployment process.
Daniel HayesFrontend developer Built a page with Claude, then used Flat to share it. Getting it off my laptop was the part I'd been putting off.
Oliver GrantStartup founder I needed a link to my portfolio for job applications. Flat let me publish the files I already had.
Lucas ReedArchitecture graduate We send clients a preview before the review call. They've had time to look at the work, so the conversation is more useful.
Ben FosterAgency owner Publishing the build folder from the terminal fits how I work. I don't want a dashboard for every small task.
Adam EllisSoftware engineer I had someone make a simple HTML page for me. I could handle putting it online myself.
Tom ParkerSmall business owner Useful when an idea is ready for feedback but isn't ready to become a full project. Publish the prototype and share the link.
James NolanProduct manager
I use Flat for the little pages and documents that need a URL. I can publish them myself without asking a developer.
Nina BrooksMarketing manager Sending screenshots only gets you so far. Now I send a working preview and people can actually click through it.
Maya BennettProduct designer My proposals open straight in the browser. It's a nicer handoff than sending another email attachment.
Sara MitchellIndependent consultant I can share an HTML report without explaining how to unzip it and open the right file. That alone makes it useful.
Priya CollinsData analyst Handy for publishing a PDF guide and getting a link I can put in our emails.
Emma WalshContent marketer Each published version has its own link. It's easier to keep track of what we showed people during a session.
Leah MorganUX researcher I wanted my portfolio on my own domain without rebuilding it in another website tool. Flat suited that.

Before you publish
Where are my files hosted?
Your published files are hosted on EU servers.
Which files can people view?
Flat has viewers for PDFs, images, text, spreadsheets, and other supported formats. Some documents use a generated PDF preview. Preview limits apply; files without a preview still have an original download link.
Can I upload a folder or ZIP here?
The browser uploader accepts individual files. It does not accept folders or extract ZIPs. To publish a site with folders, extract any ZIP on your device and use the CLI to publish the finished site folder.
Can Flat run my application?
Flat serves static files. HTML, CSS, and client-side JavaScript can run in the visitor's browser. Flat does not run your server code, database, or build process. Build your static output before publishing.
Can I require a password?
Yes. Set a visitor password through the CLI or API. Anyone with the link and password can access the files. The browser uploader does not have a password setting.
Can people download my files?
Yes. Flat's viewers include access to the original file. Browser viewing does not prevent downloading.
