A report with supporting files

Send a proposal and its cost spreadsheet together. Flat gives visitors a file browser, with PDF reading and previews for supported Office files. They can download the originals to use in their own apps.

For a finished HTML report or website, include index.html at the root. Flat opens that page at the main link. You can publish files made with Claude or another tool once they work outside that tool.

An app with server code

Keep Roxer if you rely on its app runtime, cloud builds, or SQLite database. Flat does not run Node.js or Python servers. Moving the source files alone will not move a working backend.

Roxer also supports pasting HTML and uploading website ZIPs. With Flat, save HTML as a file and extract a website ZIP before publishing its folder through the CLI.

Compare free publishing and plan limits

Flat plans

Free includes 5 MiB per upload, 1 GiB of storage, and 5 GiB of monthly transfer. Signed-in uploads have no set expiry. Named onflat.page addresses and visitor passwords are included.

Starter is €9 a month for 100 MiB per upload, 50 GiB of storage, 100 GiB of monthly transfer, and 1 custom domain.

Roxer plans

Quick Sharing is free without signup. Its docs list 20 pages per hour, 2 MB per page, and a 30-day lifetime. That gives you longer to share a page without an account than Flat's one-hour window.

Roxer currently labels Hosting and Max as free, invite-only plans. Its pages also retain US$19 and US$49 monthly prices. Confirm the offer with Roxer before relying on either price.

The plan tables list permanent pages and custom domains for Hosting and Max, plus five apps on Hosting or 100 on Max. The docs list 10 MB per page; the homepage also lists 20 MB ZIPs.

Flat measures the combined files in one upload in MiB and GiB. Roxer lists page and ZIP limits in MB. Larger hosting allowances do not guarantee a document preview.

Publish a copy before moving your domain

Start with your finished files

Use the local files you publish to Roxer. If you have a website ZIP, extract it into a folder such as ./site. Keep index.html at its root, along with the assets and subfolders it uses.

With Node.js 20 or newer, you or your agent can publish the folder:

npx -y @getflat/cli deploy ./site

Open the returned link and check your pages and images. Run npx -y @getflat/cli login before expiry to keep a signed-out upload.

Check dependencies and future updates

A Roxer app's database and server routes do not move with a static export. Check forms, API calls, and direct links to nested pages before switching. Flat does not supply an automatic single-page app routing fallback.

For future revisions, choose a named address and point it to each new upload through the CLI or API. Earlier uploads keep their version links while they remain available.

You can connect your own domain to Flat after checking the new copy. Set any visitor password again through Flat's CLI or API.

Before you switch

Can I publish something Claude made?

Yes, if you have finished HTML or documents that work outside Claude. Build or export a source project first. An app that needs a server, database, or secret API credentials needs a separate backend.

Can I keep my Roxer URL?

An address on roxer.com stays with Roxer. You can connect a domain you own to Flat, or choose a named onflat.page address. Check your upload before changing your domain's DNS records.

Does uploading a ZIP publish the website inside it?

No. Flat keeps an uploaded ZIP as a file to download. Extract the archive first, then publish the folder with the CLI. Roxer supports publishing a website ZIP without that extraction step.

Can I use Flat through a Claude Desktop connector?

The Flat workflow shown here uses a terminal-capable agent or the REST API. If you need a remote MCP connector in Claude Desktop, Roxer documents that option. Its connector setup asks for a Roxer account and API key.

What happens if Flat cannot preview a document?

Visitors can download the original. Preview support depends on the format and file. Flat's generated viewers retain Flat branding and cannot be embedded in an iframe. Check document preview support.
